1. What were your reasons for deciding to accept the Body for LIFE Challenge 2000?
I accepted the Challenge because I saw winning as an opportunity to succeed in life. I was so afraid to take a risk at the cost of failure, and the possibility of not recovering. I was so afraid to move forward in life that I was stuck not doing anything at all. I wanted to be as happy as those people were in their pictures. I wanted to be one of them.
2. What inspired you to stay on course throughout the 12-week Challenge?
I coach a group of people doing the Body for LIFE program. Their determination to change thier bodies and their lives keeps me inspired. Every day someone reports fat loss, muscle gain, or increased strength. Their trust in me to help them succeed makes me work harder. I want to lead by example.
3. What obstacle did you have to overcome--what adversity did you transform into positive energy--in order to complete the 12-week Challenge?
The greatest adversity I had to overcome was lack of money. Being a college student I can't afford expensive gym memberships and pre-packaged meals. Following the Body for LIFE program proved to me that I could get in shape on a budget without sacrificing great results. I also discovered that even though I don't have a lot of money, I still have a lot to give to others. I can share my time, talents, and love to those in need. A smile, a kind word, and a hug go a long way!
4. How did you measure your physical progress from "before" to "after"? (Bodyfat percentage/body composition; pant size; dress size; scale weight; health indicators, such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, etc." Please describe your phyysical improvements in terms of how you measured them.
Jeans have NEVER fit me comfortably. I thought that I was too short, but really I was TOO FAT! Starting at a size 10, I now wear size 4 jeans. I've never fit into a 4, not even in high school! Now jeans and other clothes fit perfectly. This is the body I was meant to have. Using skin fold calipers my bodyfat dropped from 21% to 12%.
5. Did you use nutritional supplements during your 12-week Program? If so, which ones did you use (please be specific), and how much did they help you? Would you recommend those supplements to others to help them achieve the results you have?
Proper supplementation is the key to that extra edge you need in losing fat and gaining muscle. I achieved incredible results using EAS supplements. Phen-Free helped support maximum fat loss without nasty side effects. Myoplex-Lite, Betagen, and Cytovol supplied the additional nutrition I needed, and helped build and repair my muscles.
6. How was your life transformed by improving your physical condition--by deciding to accept the Challenge and sticking with it from start to finish?
When I was in the gym hitting those high points, I learned to apply those techniques to how I live life and how I treat others. To reach deep down inside and give from the heart. After completing this Challenge, I have new confidence and ener4gy to live life with passion and intensity. I take risks and learn from set backs without fear of failure. I feel so alive!
7. If you could inspire only one person to follow your example--to experience all the positive changes you have over the past 12 weeks--who would that one person be; why would you choose that person; and how would you help that person succeed like you have?
I want to inspire
my mother. She has rheumatoid arthritis throughout her whole body.
She's had multiple joint replacements. I believe this program can
give her new independence, self-confidence, increased health and strength
to conquer the pain of this crippling disease. I would help her by
working right beside her and helping modify the exercises to fit her needs.
It's the best gift I can think of giving her. She gave me life.
I want to give her back the life arthritis stole from her.
