Huckaboom's dust has settled, I'm over it

After the last few mistakes Huckabee has made regarding geography of Pakistan and Afghanistan, no school vouchers, hearing the full details of his plan for immigration reform (amnesty path to citizenship), wanting to outlaw waterboarding, and closing Gitmo and bringing them here to inland, I have decided to rescind my support for Mike Huckabee. It all came to pass during the last Republican debate when Fred Thompson just strung all those little problems together. And added up it made Huckabee look pretty damn bad. Huck's reponse to Thompson was to side-step with humor instead of answer for his plan and platform. I always thought his humor was great, but now I see it's a defense mechanism for when he doesn't want to justify his standing.

I originally liked Thompson but his lack of energy to garner poll numbers wisely poised me to look elsewhere. During that debate it looked like someone gave Fred a shot of B-12. So I'm hopeful, but not sold.

Like a good many Republicans I'm back into the undecided column. Just depends on what day it is as to who I'm supporting. After the debate it was Fred Thompson again. Then yesterday I was strongly considering Romney because, "it's the economy stupid." Juliani may still make his stand after the primary numbers come out of Florida, New York, and California. I have two weeks left to vote here in Florida. I have my absentee ballot, but will bring in it at the last minute.

Just anyone but McCain.

  • My ideology probably most aligns with guliani but Obama does appeal to me especially when he has been given props to reagan lately. He sucks he lost nevada. Ron Paul is just a wet dream.

  • Everyone is giving props to Reagan. So if you heard Ron Paul give props to Reagan would you vote for him? What about Dennis Kucinich?

I'm most aligned with Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter. But unfortunately the dollars and rock star appeal have not followed. Romney has the money to not only fund his primary campaign but still has plenty in reserve for the general and honestly doesn't even need the matching federal funds. And again, I emphasize the word UNFORTUNATELY, that is what our American system of elections has come down to: money. And that also happens to be the issue that is surfacing as the most important with the volatile markets and dropping value of the American dollar. We need a champion CEO to run this corporation called the USA, not a preacher (though we do need God), and not a politician (no disrespect to McCain and his military service). That could be a Romney or a Juliani. Maybe...

  • Obama is the only democrat to acknowledge that republicans have done some good in the past. Then he gets torched by the ex-president this weekend for doing so. Thompson and Hunter are out.To tell you the truth I don't think a champion CEO would be able to get the job done with the current political mindset. Reform is needed because politicans are elected by what they can get for their states and not necessarily what they do for the country as a whole. Which leads to out of control spending which in turn leads to out of control borrowing hwich in the long run will devalue the dollar. I know Guiliani made some tough economic decisions to get NYs budget in check..Romney did save the olympics, unsure of what he did for Mass..

Sorry I am starting to ramble and getting mad just thinking about this stuff..

  • When governor Romney made a lot of tough comprimises with a heavy blue state legislature. Remember, this is Teddy Kennedy's state. Their manufacturing sector was tanking pretty bad, but while in office the tech sector grew well and they won the bid to have a major Rx manufacturer build in MA (I can't remember who off the top of my head, but it was a major cancer drug manufacturer, the one that Lance Armstrong is a spokesperson for).

He is also known for taking over a couple major funding corporations and digging them out of a hole. That's where the strong financial boost to make him president comes from.

  • It is interesting how the candidates are portrayed in the media and what facts are stressed. I looked Romney up and one of the digs was that while gov the Mass economy lagged behind the rest of the country (it grew but at a slower rate than the rest of the country). Maybe I am just tainted because he has changed his views on a couple of topics because it was more in line with the righteous right. HC does the same thing. I will have to see if he had balanced budget in Mass...if he did maybe I will put on my list as number 3.

  • People say Romney has flipped flopped on a COUPLE things, but they can only name one: abortion. We've all changed our minds on things at one point or another. Abortion was one issue that changed people's minds as technology showed how "human" the fetus really looked at such a young age. So I can't fault Romney for that. And after said change of heart he's stayed with that line of thinking.

  • I would look a taxes and immigration as other issues Romney as altered his stance on, he hasn't been consistent on gun rights either (just google it and you will get a ton of sites). I just get a sense that he tries to take the majority opinion like HC for the democrats. Doesn't seem like anything is original. But all candidates change their issue stances to some degree. When is the Florida primary? I have been hearing about it for at least a week.
